JW Marriott Singapore South Beach is the ideal hotel choice for anyone trying to plan a holiday full of activities to experience Singapore’s history through heritage site visits near its vicinity as well as to enjoy the luxury service and comfort that this hotel has to offer. The rooms are beautifully decorated with a mix of modern contemporary art as well as the intrigue looking “floating” bed. Due to the hotel’s central and ideal location, you not only get to enjoy tons of shopping and food options, you wake up every day to a stunning view of Singapore’s city skyline. There is also an indoor open-air pool and gym on level 18 which is ideal for those who wish to take an afternoon dip and escape the scorching sun. We recommend this hotel for any couples planning an ATAS (luxury) and romantic holiday.
If you are planning a trip or staycation with activities that comprises heritage and modern contemporary experiences, then JW Marriott Singapore South Beach would be the ideal choice for you. Recently renovated, JW Marriott design is hip and artsy fartsy as seen from the lobby’s art installations and a floor-to-really high ceiling digital art display.
Located right in the middle of large shopping establishments like Suntec City Shopping Mall, Raffles City and heritage sites like War Memorial Park, you can easily plan out an itinerary of intensive shopping (we reckon 2-3 days may not be enough) or take a trip down Singapore’s history near the various heritage sites in the vicinity. Even the popular Bugis shopping street is less than a 10mins walk away.
Upon entering the premises, you are immediately greeted with the curvy wooden roof facade and large Instagram worthy fountain on display.
With a total of 634 rooms spread out over 21 floors, it is easy to end up with the kind of stay that will suit you. I particularly enjoyed the one with the Premier Marina Bay View.
Upon entering the room, we were intrigued by the ‘floating’ bed design and wanted to ask the staff if this kind of ATAS (high end) bed design can be bought so we can put one in our own home.
Another interesting juxtapose design that immediately catches your eyes will be the shiny metal rocking chair at the desk which seems so out-of-place yet blends in so well with the overall design at the same time.
Setting itself apart and to cater to the millennials and couples, JW Marriott has inserted lots of smart technology, easy to access USB charging ports by the bedside, state-of-the-art automatic toilets with electronic bidets and rain showers to the room and bathrooms. As if this should already be the norm in most hotels, yet sometimes we find it hard to find in most Singapore hotels.
The following are just some of the amenities you can expect:
Executive lounge access
Complimentary food:
- Continental breakfast
- afternoon tea
Complimentary Cocktails
Marble bathroom
Bidet
Desk, writing / work, electrical outlet
Plug-In High Tech room
Premium movie channels
Be sure to check out the award-winning international buffet from Beach Road Kitchen and Michelin-starred celebrity chef Akira Back’s modern Japanese restaurant. Akira Back has more than 14 restaurants around the world and one of the signatures must try is the tuna pizza.
After your dinner, head on to The NCO Club – Cool Cats for some drinks and live jazz performance or drop by Court Martial Bar to be served cocktails in a conserved pre-world war II heritage bar.
Court Martilal Bar is a specialty cocktail bar and late-night venue known for its skilfully crafted concoctions from re-defined classic cocktails to barrel-aged creations and heritage-inspired signatures.
Situated at the 18th floor is where you can find the indoor open-air outdoor pool. The partially submerged furniture provides for a really relaxing and calming corner to escape the sweltering heat and relax with your bestie or loved ones and have a good high tea session. One thing to note is that the pool is not heated and it may get a little too cooling for some people’s liking.
If you are a fitness buff, then be sure to head on to the 24-hour Fitness Center that features the state-of-the-art facilities located at Flow18.
To cool down after a workout, we recommend taking a stroll along the outdoor sky gardens at Flow18 and Ebb6 and take in the panoramic views of the Singapore skyline and cityscape.
